Heritage Building Needs Maintenance

The General Post Office building and the two buildings adjacent to it were built during the time of the Maharajas and have historical importance. The building which houses Lashkar Police Station is one of them. It is included in the list of 198 heritage buildings of Mysore identified by MUDA in its Master Plan - 2031.

A few years ago, the police department renovated the buiding keeping its heritage value in mind. But not much attention seems to have been paid about its its maintenance. Shrubs and trees have grown both at the floor and ceiling levels of the first floor. It is incomprehensible why no one has noticed it. If the situation continues, the entire building and the staff working in it will be in danger. We hope that the department will soon take the needed action.
