Is There No Escape From Road Blocking?

A group of people blocked Bengaluru-Mysuru road on Sunday night (26-10-14) because some accident had occurred on that road. The road blocking which happened late at night must have severely inconvenienced innumerable travellers, especially elderly people, children and ladies.

It was reported in the media that Mysuru-Nanjangud road was also blocked recently for some reason. It is possible that this disease will spread to all roads leading out of Mysuru. The question is: Should only Mysureans suffer? Do Mysureans not have the right of way? It appears that the main cause of the problem is that Mysureans do not care enough about their rights. This becomes evident when we observe the bad state of our city.

Every day dozens of red-beacon cars carry ministers and high government officials on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway. Is this not a problem for them also? Why are they silent on the issue?

When the international airport was not built between Bengaluru and Mysuru, our city lost a golden opportunity. Since our own airport is in the wrong place, we do not have air connectivity. And now even our road connectivity is facing frequent threats.

Associations of our city such as Rotary, Lions, CII, Chamber of Commerce, Hotel Owners' Association, etc. must get together and make clear that we will not tolerate this situation. The CM is also from our city. If this problem is not solved now, we may not get another chance.
