Work is proceeding to widen the road next to the zoo. As is usual with all recent road-widening projects in Mysore, there is no space left for the pedestrians. They will be walking on the road itself, which would shrink the road portion usable by vehicles, thus negating the very purpose of road widening. It is a shame that Mysore city, planned by such far-sighted men as M.Visweswariah, is being converted into an anti-people city by these modern town planners.
